Description
The top panel shows (numbered, right to left): 1. Shed sheltering miners digging under the wall. 2. Rolling shield, or mantlet, to protect archers or engineers. 3. Battering ram with roof and walls to protect its operators. 4. Same as 1., but with open sides. The bottom panel shows (numbered, right to left): 5. Siege tower with a battering ram on the first floor and a drawbridge on the second. 6. Open-work siege tower. 7. Battering ram hung from a frame resting against the wall.
