Interview with Gerd Andersson conducted by John Gruen on October 8, 1977, in New York (N.Y.) as part of the research for John Gruen's book, Erik Bruhn: danseur noble (Viking Press, New York, 1979). Streaming audio file 1 (approximately 45 minutes). [Begins abruptly; short gap]. Gerd Andersson speaks with John Gruen about Erik Bruhn (briefly); her career at the Royal Swedish Ballet [Kungliga Baletten] including how seeing Antony Tudor and his work inspired her to become a dancer; Birgit Cullberg and her influence; other choreographers who worked with the Royal Swedish Ballet; the current director, Ivo Cramér; past directors; dancing with Bruhn; her friendship with Bruhn; Brian Macdonald; Bruhn as director of the Royal Swedish Ballet including his relationship with the company members and the press; Bruhn as a person; Bruhn as the Moor in Petrouchka; other roles he has recently danced [ends abruptly but continues on streaming audio file 2].
