Sound quality is fair. The recording is marred by extraneous noise including "tape hiss" and occasional short gaps. However, the speakers' voices are easily intelligible.
Description
Interview with Richard Cragun and Marcia Haydée conducted by John Gruen on June 17,1975 in New York City, as research for an article in Dance Magazine. The article, entitled Stuttgart profiles: Marcia Haydée and Richard Cragun appeared in the August 1975 issue. Streaming file 1 (approximately 48 minutes). Richard Cragun speaks with John Gruen about his background and training; the circumstances of his joining the Stuttgart Ballet [Stuttgarter Ballett]; John Cranko; Marcia Haydée and their relationship; more on John Cranko, as a person and as an artist; Marcia Haydée speaks about John Cranko; her relationship with Cragun including her first impressions of him; Cragun and Haydée speak about their partnership and partnering with other members of the company; Haydée speaks about her background and training including her audition for the Marquis de Cuevas ballet [Grand Ballet de Monte Carlo]; [ends abruptly but continues on streaming file 2]. Streaming file 2 (approximately 33 minutes). Marcia Haydée continues to speak with John Gruen about her experience with the Marquis de Cuevas ballet [Grand Ballet de Monte Carlo]; being hired by John Cranko as a prima ballerina for the Stuttgart Ballet; Haydée and Cragun speak about Cranko's sudden death and its effect on the company; Glen Tetley and his appointment as the director of the Stuttgart Ballet; their satisfaction overall with Tetley as director; future plans for the company.
