Interview with Violette Verdy conducted by Walter Terry in Paris, France; and Terry's self-recorded notes on an international dance festival in Rennes, France, on March 3 and 4, 1978. A third, unidentified person contributes a few remarks in the first part of the interview with Verdy. Streaming audio file 1 (approximately 45 minutes). [The recording begins with a conversation among Violette Verdy, Walter Terry, and an unidentified third person.] Violette Verdy speaks with Walter Terry about casting in upcoming ballets at the Opéra de Paris ballet including roles for Patrick [Dupond?]; her job as director at the Opéra de Paris ballet including some key terms in her contract; the greatly-improved atmosphere at the company; managing dancers with problems; being given responsibility, for the first time, for the choreography for the Opéra Comique; her plans and hopes regarding upcoming repertory including the obstacles to commissioning new works; her thoughts on artist exchanges; her first choreographic work, for the Opéra Comique [ends abruptly but continues on streaming audio file 2]. Streaming audio file 2 (approximately 30 minutes). Violette Verdy speaks with Walter Terry about teachers; plans regarding the Opéra Comique; discussion of various recent versions of Romeo and Juliet [the interview with Verdy ends at approximately 7:15 minutes].
