Soundtrack from an unidentified television program featuring Agnes De Mille, Walter Terry, and Alvin Ailey as discussion participants, and Bruce Becker as a performer, on the occasion of the centennial of the 92nd Street Y. The recording includes commercials, recorded accompaniment to Helen Tamiris' dance Go down Moses [Negro spirituals] performed by Bruce Becker, and the questions of viewers who call in. Streaming audio file (approximately 32 minutes). Introduction by unidentified speaker of Agnes de Mille, Walter Terry, Alvin Ailey, and Bruce Becker, and the program in the celebration of the centennial of the 92nd Street Y. [Music and commercials.] In response to two (unidentified) moderators, Agnes de Mille speaks (briefly) about De Mille's Dance Heritage Theatre; De Mille, Ailey, and Terry discuss the current position of dance in the United States; the benefits of dancing for children [recorded musical accompaniment to Helen Tamiris's work Go down Moses (Negro spirituals), performed by Bruce Becker; announcement and commercials]; continuation of the discussion; topics include male dancers and male dancing; the role the 92nd Street Y played in the history of dance in America; advice to viewers who call in with questions about the study of dance; and some of the companies that will be seen at the planned gala anniversary performance.
