Description
Interview with Martha Darby conducted by John E. Hirsch on May 15, 1978, in New York (N.Y.). Streaming audio file (approximately 49 minutes). Martha Darby, an original corps de ballet member of the Birmingham Civic Ballet, speaks with John E. Hirsch about the beginnings and early years of the company including her memories of Gage Bush and Henley Haslam; the first Southeastern Regional Ballet Festival, in 1956; the company's production of The firebird at the Festival; some of her roles; changes in the company over the years including its current status.
