DescriptionSoundtrack of the 1973 documentary on the 25th annual American Dance Festival held in 1972 at Connecticut College, New London, Connecticut, entitled Festival of the dance: Glimpses through time of America's own art form (directed by Ted Steeg) cataloged at the Library under the call number *MGZIDF 6408. The soundtrack, with voiced-over commentary by Marvin Silbersher, includes excerpts of auditions for the Festival, remarks by Charles Weidman, José Limón, Charles Reinhart, and Rudy Perez, a brief sketch of the history of modern dance, and excerpts from various dances.

The recording includes excerpts of auditions for a new repertory company (American Dance Festival Repertory Company) sponsored by Connecticut College to perform reconstructions of early modern dance works at the Festival; excerpts of various dances performed at the first and second opening nights; and remarks by Charles Weidman, José Limón, Charles Reinhart, and Rudy Perez. Throughout the recording Marvin Silbersher provides voiced-over commentary including an outline of the history of modern dance in the United States, the audition process, and the choreographers and works featured at the 1972 Festival.
