Description
Interview with Katharyn Horne conducted by Walter Terry, as host, for broadcast on December 12, 1967, by radio station WNYC, New York, on its series Invitation to dance. Streaming audio file (approximately 27 minutes). [Music and introductory remarks by unidentified speaker.] Walter Terry introduces his guest Katharyn Horne; Katharyn Horne speaks about the newly-founded Manhattan Festival Ballet including its style; her responsibilities at the company; the company's resident theater; the current repertoire; the relationship between a dancer's style and the accompanying music, as for example dancing to Tchaikovsky as compared to [Cesare] Pugni; the style necessary for dancing in Anton Dolin's Pas de quatre; performing in James Waring's Phantom of the opera; her years with the Metropolitan Opera Ballet; near-term plans for the company; her daughter [closing remarks by unidentified speaker and music].
