[Music.] Lucile Brahms Nathanson introduces the program Making the dance scene, and her guest, Patty Kerr Ross, Director of University Wide Programs in the Arts, State University of New York College at Purchase; Ross speaks with Nathanson about the program, its history and its goals; the campus and its focus on the performing arts and the liberal arts; the annual festival of university dance groups including some of the venues and participating institutions; the growth in dance at universities and colleges, in particular at community colleges; the dance touring program including how it differs from that of the National Endowment for the Arts in its focus on new and emerging artists [closing remarks and music].
