Content: Interview with Arthur Mitchell, Elena Carter and Joseph Wyatt conducted by Patricia McCann as host, in New York City, for broadcast on March 19, 1976 by radio station WOR-AM, New York. The atmosphere is informal, and often two or all three of the interviewees join in the discussions that ensue in response to McCann's questions.

[Arthur Mitchell's voice directing a rehearsal of the Dance Theatre of Harlem at Uris Theatre.] Patricia McCann introduces Arthur Mitchell and his company Dance Theatre of Harlem; Elena Carter and Mitchell speak about the Dance Theatre of Harlem's daily schedule of class followed by rehearsal; Wyatt speaks about the necessity of daily work-outs; Carter speaks about working with Mitchell; Mitchell speaks about the necessity of staying in good condition; why he started Dance Theatre of Harlem [commercial announcements]; Mitchell speaks about the varied styles of the company's repertory; Carter and Wyatt (with occasional remarks from MItchell) discuss their training and how each came to join the company including an anecdote related by Mitchell about how he first met Carter; McCann describes part of a rehearsal she saw at the Uris Theatre [brief excerpt of a recording of Mitchell yelling "down, down" to the dancers at the rehearsal]; Mitchell, Carter, and Wyatt speak about the rigorous physical and mental preparation necessary for performance [commercial announcements]; Mitchell discusses how the Dance Theatre of Harlem tries to draw a broad audience; Carter and Mitchell speak about the dancers' wearing of wool leg warmers at rehearsal; Mitchell and Wyatt speak about the male ballet vocabulary including which steps audiences love; MItchell speaks about why dancers should be lean [commercial announcements].
