O'Rourke traces Clark's rise to stardom from his early days in Springfield, Ohio when he teamed up with Paul McCullough and toured the country for meager earnings gradually gaining fame and popularity in vaudeville/burlesque/comedy until McCullough's suicide in March 1936 after which Clark went on performing successfully on his own.
