Description
Tom Brown, Bobby Clark's veteran valet of many years, and his wife recollect many stories related to Brown's service first for the team Clark and McCullough and then for Clark alone whom he portrays as a kind and considerate man, generous with the needy but modest in his life style. He describes his responsibilities, Clark's hobbies, their working routines, and tours in which he accompanied Clark all over the country. A few memories include unpleasant incidents in the late 30s during their trips to the south that were caused by Brown's race (he refers to himself as a "colored man") and Clark's indignation that ultimately stopped him from performing in the south altogether. The Browns also dwell on depicting Mrs. Clark's superb human qualities, kindness, spirituality and generosity.
