Reiss (approximately 5 minutes), for broadcast on radio station WNYC-FM, New York on its series The world of dance, on July 24, 1966.

[Music and introductory remarks by unidentified announcer.] Introductory remarks by Marian Horosko followed by recording from Matteo's class in the technique of Bharata natyam at the High School of Performing Arts, New York [later Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music Art and Performing Arts]; Matteo speaks with Horosko about his innovations in the teaching of East Indian dance in order to render it more easily comprehensible to Westerners; the principles on which he bases his teaching; the basic stances, respectively, of each of the four main styles of dance (Bharata natyam; Kathakali, Manipuri, and Kathak) in India; the rhythms used for Bharata Natyam and other styles; the Indian system of studying classical dance with a guru; the audience in India for Indian classical dance [closing remarks followed by sounds of East Indian dancing and music].
