Sound quality is good. There is extraneous noise, but the speakers' voices are easily intelligible.
Description
Interview with Fred Fehl conducted by Marian Horosko (approximately 17 minutes) and interview with Arnold Gingrich conducted by Alvin H. Reiss (approximately nine minutes) for broadcast by radio station WNYC-FM, New York, on its series World of Dance, in 1967. Streaming file (approximately first 16:30 minutes). [Music and introductory remarks by unidentified announcer.] Marian Horosko, as host, introduces her guest, the dance photographer Fred Fehl; Fehl speaks about his background; photographing dancers while they are performing; his working methods including his use of stage lighting; his relationship to the dancers; the factors that determine when in the course of a performance he clicks the shutter; his interest in filming performances including his experience filming La Argentinita and Katherine Dunham. Streaming file (from approximately 16:30 minutes to 26:13). Alvin H. Reiss, as host, introduces his guest Arnold Gingrich, a publisher of Esquire Magazine; Gingrich speaks with Reiss about business support for the arts; some of the reasons commercial organizations subsidize the arts; the relatively low level of such support for dance; the Esquire Magazine National Business in the Arts awards [music and closing remarks by unidentified announcer].
