Description
Interview with Lucia Chase conducted by John Gruen in October, 1977, in New York (N.Y.), as part of the research for John Gruen's book, Erik Bruhn: danseur noble (Viking Press, New York, 1979). Streaming audio file (approximately 24 minutes). Lucia Chase speaks with John Gruen about Erik Bruhn and how he came to join American Ballet Theatre; Bruhn's illness and what became his farewell performance at the Kennedy Center [John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts]; his subsequent performances with American Ballet Theatre, in The moor's pavane and in Petrouchka; Bruhn's many partners while at American Ballet Theatre including Lupe Serrano; Bruhn as a person and his current relationship with American Ballet Theatre; Antony Tudor and his role at the company; Bruhn's feelings about his retirement; his current physical state.
