Description
Irving Caesar, an American lyricist and theater composer who wrote lyrics for numerous songs, talks about Irving Berlin's influence, popular songs with a meaning and theme, songs that were motivated by real events, period songs and their creators, the cult of performers, the identification of a song with a particular artist rather than its creators, hit songs, and such. He recommends Wilk to use NYPL Rodgers & Hammerstein collection as an invaluable source of material for his book on songs.
