James Lyon introduces Scott Douglas; Scott Douglas speaks about his background including his early training and tap dancing performances; his time working for the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) in El Paso and his military service, in the U.S. Navy; his limited exposure to ballet as a child in El Paso; continuing his dance training in Los Angeles, with Ruth St. Denis and Lester Horton; moving to San Francisco and studying ballet with the Christensen brothers; performing with the San Francisco Ballet; joining American Ballet Theatre, initially for the company's European tour; the challenge of the choreography in [Eugene Loring's] Billy the Kid; the kind of roles he likes and why; Lyons describes two preview programs of American Ballet Theatre; Douglas speaks about Herbert Ross's new ballet Paean; the company's upcoming tour; Lyon's closing remarks.
