Interview with Ted Shawn on the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, conducted by Walter Terry as host for radio station WNYC, New York, on its series Invitation to dance. Recorded and broadcast May 14, 1967. Streaming audio file (approximately 23 minutes). [Music and introduction by unidentified speaker of program and host, Walter Terry.] Walter Terry speaks briefly about Ted Shawn's many contributions to the field of dance and the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival. Ted Shawn speaks with Walter Terry about the origins of the Festival; including the early years of lecture-demonstrations with Ted Shawn and His Men Dancers; building a dance theater (the Ted Shawn Theatre), inaugurated in 1942; the growth and diversification of the Festival; the Festival as a showcase for young choreographers as well as companies not previously seen in the United States; the educational purpose of the Festival. [Closing remarks by unidentified speaker and music.]
