Currier's Lith. N.Y.Content: Includes music scoreBiographical/historical: Marie Taglioni, considered the quintessential Romantic ballerina, excelled in ethereal and otherworldly roles such as the title role of La sylphide, choreographed by her father Filippo Taglioni in 1832. In La Gitana, created by Filippo in 1839, she ventured into the ballet of local color, conveying the exotic flavors of foreign lands.
