They came to the valley because they had heard that there was work the year around with the exception of the month of June. The man said that he had owned a large farm in Ariz. but this is doubtful. He was an ex-service man until recently had been receiving some compensation, he said. He had worked on WPA until he left his home county searching work in adjoining county on a farm. He did not find the expected work and said that the WPA refused to restore him to the rolls or have his transferred to the rolls in his new home. The cabinet on the back of his trailer is an exact duplicate of those on the chuck wagons on the old-time ranches. The skillet shown had a "skeleton" lid. Coals are piled on the lid in order to bake bread. The tent is erected in the midst of thick chapparel and when a neighbor walked up to visit them the man welcomed, "well, come in and see the bruch dwellers". This man said that he wished he had gone to California where he thinks there is plenty of work. He intends to try to get to California in the fall.
