Content: The maximum and minimum thermometers in the shelter and the rain gauge at the right constitute the instrumental equipment of about 4,500 cooperative observers throughout the States who furnish daily reports of temperature, rainfall and weather to the Climatological Section Centers in each state. These men serve faithfully without compensation, often for considerable periods. Some of them have more than fifty years continuous service to their credit.
