Description
Letter shows the development of Pemberton’s anti-slavery views, with much praise for the writing by the more advanced Granville Sharp, and reporting on the status of laws for suppression of the slave trade in several American states. Philadelphia. Pemberton was exiled from Pennsylvania as a pacifist during the Revolution, and later succeeded Franklin as President of the Pennsylvania Abolition Society.
