Description
Two-part retrospective on the life and work of George Balanchine. Biographical material, interviews, rare tapes, and excerpts from many of his ballets throughout both programs give a comprehensive view of Balanchine's career. Part I covers the years from his birth in 1904 to the premiere of the New York City Ballet at Lincoln Center, New York in 1964. In Part II Balanchine's philosophy, his thoughts on music, Stravinsky, teaching, choreography, and dancing in general are explored.
