Music: Japanese folk music arranged by Akio Yashiro, and Asterism, by Toru Takemitsu. Scenery and costumes: Søren Breum. Performed by members of the Royal Danish Ballet: Eske Holm, Flemming Flindt, Mette Hønningen, Elsa Marianne von Rosen, Erik Holmey, Svend Erik Jensen, Niels Theilsø, Tommy Edvardsen, and others.

Description
Kwaidan, which means "a strange story," is not a ballet but a Western reinterpretation of a Japanese fairy tale without words. During a fight, a non-Japanese twin-couple, boy and girl, are separated from each other. The boy is brought up by a bandit leader. Having matured and been forced to assist his best friend in committing harakiri, he leaves home to search for the real meaning of life.
