Description
The program includes an interview with theater critic Leida Snow, radio commercials, and releases of new albums and films. Snow observes various cultural events taking place in New York at the end of 2002, such as the release of the 2002 film "Chicago" (based on the musical of the same name), she also compares the film to the original Broadway production; the musical "La Bohéme" based on the landmark Giacomo Puccini's opera of the same name, with Puccini's original music (directed by Baz Luhrmann); "Our town," the revival of the 1938 three-act play by American playwright Thornton Wilder, starring Paul Newman; "Movin' out," the jukebox musical featuring the songs of Billy Joel; the musical "Tommy Tune: White tie and tails". Excerpts from various released recordings such as "New York, New York," the theme song from the Martin Scorsese film "New York, New York" (1977) sung by Frank Sinatra, composed by John Kander, with lyrics by Fred Ebb, were played during the program.
