Content: "Illustrated with a new and accurate plan of the city of New-York, and part of Long-Island, including the suburbs, with all the streets, lanes, public buildings, wharves, &c., exactly laid down, from the latest survey"--Title page, 1789. Varies in subsequent issues; 1790: "Illustrated with an accurate and elegant plan ... "; 1791-1795: "Illustrated with a new and accurate plan of the city, and part of Long-Island, exactly laid down, agreeably to the latest survey"; 1796: "Illustrated with a plan of the city and part of Long-Island, laid down agreeably to the latest survey." Despite statement on title page, issue for 1796 was issued without the map.

Content: Extensive listing of contents on title page. In issue for 1789: "Containing, an alphabetical list of the names, occupations, and places of abode of the citizens, a register of the Congress of the United States, foreign ministers, governors of different states, officers of the State of New-York, officers in Chancery, Assembly, Senate, officers of city and county, Chamber of Commerce, Marine Society, Assurance Company, ministers of the Gospel, Medical Society, the other societies in the city, roll of attornies of Supreme Court, Columbia College, Library Society, militia officers, Masonic lodges, post days, stages, and coach rates, impost law. extracts from sundry laws for the regulation of trade, &c." Varies in subsequent issues.
Content: Map on folded sheet at beginning of issues for 1789-1795; has caption title: Plan of the city of New York. In issue for 1789, signed: I.M. Comb Junr. [that is, John McComb, Jr.] delt., C. Tiebaut sculpt. 1789. In later issues, signed Tiebaut sculpt. without date. Two slightly varying engravings were used, respectively 21 x 43 cm and 21 x 37 cm.
