Description
Visual tour of the Vienna Opera House for a television program introduced with narration in German by Marcel Prawy and dubbed into English probably by himself for a film copy for the Austrian Consulate in New York City. The narration and film images of the opera house are intercut with excerpts from the following works all performed on the stage of the Vienna Opera House: Death scene from La bohème by Giacomo Puccini with José Carreras and Mirella Freni; Grand air de Zerbinetta from Ariadne auf Naxos by Richard Strauss with Edita Gruberova; Overture from Fidelio by Ludwig van Beethoven with Leonard Bernstein; The Viennese Opera Ball; Final scene from Salome by Richard Strauss with Gwyneth Jones; Coronation scene from Boris Godunov by Modest Mussorgsky with Nicolai Ghiaurov.
