Content: Hitler decided to erase Poland, only an independent nation since the end of World War I, from the map of Europe. What had been, in effect, "occupied Poland" was to be absorbed into the larger mass of Greater Germany. German settlers would move into these lands, the Jews who lived there would be eliminated, and the Polish population would serve the Reich in the capacity of serfs or peons.
