Content: Picture caption: "In strammer Haltung meldet Kapitänleutnant Lemp sein U-Boot von einer erfolgreichen Feindfahrt zurück. 47 000 BRT. sind wieder aus der englishen Versorgung ausgefallen. Der Kommandant erhielt das Ritterkreuz, die Mannschaft das Eiserne Kreuz."
Content: U-boat commander Lieutenant Fritz-Julius Lemp sank the British liner "Athenia" September 3, 1939. World opinion was outraged by the sinking of an unarmed passenger vessel, and the Germans put out a story that the British had sunk their own ship for propaganda purposes. Lemp was killed when his submarine was sunk in 1941.
