Notes
Content: British ships had laid mines off the coast of neutral Norway to disrupt Germany's supply of iron ore, produced in Sweden and shipped through ports in northern Norway. To the Germans, the Norwegians either allowed the mining or were too weak to stop it, and Hitler claimed that Norway had to be occupied to stop an impending Allied invasion of the country.
