Content: The Waffen ("armed") SS was a branch of the huge SS organization which operated in tandem with the German army. Originally derided by professional soldiers, the Waffen SS proved capable and ruthless in battle, and lost no opportunity to publicize its deeds as the fighting spearhead of the Nazi Party.
