DescriptionThis recording shows the left stage of an Event that took place on two adjacent stages, separated by a doorway. The Warhol Room is shown. Following this Event, DIA Arts Foundation curator Lynne Cooke interviews Merce Cunningham. In the interview, Merce Cunningham discusses the origin of his Events, the first Event performance in Vienna and the audience's reaction to that performance. He goes on to discuss some of the more unconventional performance spaces in which his Events took place throughout the years, how he structures the Events and his use of chance operations, among other topics. The interview is followed by questions from the audience.
