Miguel Terekhov speaks with Theresa Bowers about his early training in Montevideo, Uruguay including an anecdote about his father's past as a ballet dancer; his time with the Original Ballet Russe of Colonel de Basil [also known as Ballets russes du Col. W. de Basil] including some of his first roles; learning Russian on the road; leaving the company after five years just before the European tour; getting by on very low pay; his impressions of Col. W. de Basil; the United States tour including an anecdote about Andre Eglevsky and a pirouette competition; seeing performances by other companies in New York; David Lichine; Alicia Markova including an anecdote about his parodying her style; John Taras; the company's repertoire; performing in South America after leaving the Ballet russes du Col. de Basil [ends abruptly but continues directly on streaming audio file 2].
