Content: Contains sound recordings used in the music for Merce Cunningham's Torse (1976); based on the WAV file shapes: reel no. 2 slightly differs from reel no. 1, reel no. 3 is an inverse version of reel nos. 1 and 2, and reel no. 4 is the second part of reel nos. 1 and 2.
Content: Sound quality is fair; reel no. 1 has approximately 7 minutes of leader silence and all reels contain significant recording "hiss".
Numbering: Donor's inventory numbers: R101 (no. 1), R099 (no. 2), R097 (no. 3), and, R107 (no. 4).
Venue: Recorded in unidentified locations for use in performances of Torse.
Acquisition: Gift; Merce Cunningham Dance Foundation, 2011-2012.
Conservation history: The archival original reels no. 2 and no. 4 recordings were produced at a non standard speed, 16.66% faster than 7.5 ips, for the purpose of being played in locations where the playback equipment uses a 50 Hz standard in order to compensate for pitch.

Extent: 4 audiotape reels (83 min.) : analog, (reels 1 and 3: 7 1/2 ips; reels 2 and 4, 6 1/4 ips), two track, stereo ; 7 in.
The archival original reels no. 2 and no. 4 recordings were produced at a non standard speed, 16.66% faster than 7.5 ips, for the purpose of being played in locations where the playback equipment uses a 50 Hz standard in order to compensate for pitch.
