Content: Each part in the original illustrated bluish green paper covers, as issued March 31, 1836-November 1837, the last adouble no.; all covers dated 1836. Title page, dated 1837,and other preliminaries in pt. 19/20. Publisher's advertisements on p. [4] of covers of pts. 1-3, and on p. [2-4] of covers of pts. 4-19/20. "Pickwick advertiser" in pts. 4-19/20. Additional advertising matter in most other parts, except pt. 2; for details, cf. Eckel; Hatton & Cleaver. Content: Illustrations: 43 prints (incl. added t.p.) : etching ; full-page. Comprise 7 ill. drawn and etched by Seymour (pts. 1-2); 2 drawn by R.W. Buss (pt. 3); and 34 drawn andetched by H.K. Browne ("Phiz") (pts. 4-19/20). The Buss plates were not etched by him; cf. Winterich, J.T. Books and the man. 1929. p. 46-47. In this issue, all are without legends; all after pt. 12 also without page nos. In pts. 1-9, plates were re-etched for later issues of parts and/or issue in book form; beginning with pt. 10, all plates were etched in duplicate, with the plates designated "B" by Johannsen also found in issue in book form. -- 1 print (on covers of parts) : wood engraving ; full-page.
