Description
Considers a plan to attract British capital to West Indian investment by allowing interest over the 5% legal limit. Mentions specifically St. Kitts, Nevis, Montserrat, Grenada, and Jamaica. The petitioners argue that the rate of interest in the West Indian Islands should be set to 8%, in order to promote fairness among the islands, where some of the interest rates were a mere 6%. An answering petition arguing for a rate of 6% was issued later the same year.
