Ownership: Provenance: Charlotte Shaw (her subscription copy); G. Bernard Shaw. With the latter's book label and ms. inscription on 6 p. preceding t.p. (published in: Flyleaves / Bernard Shaw. Austin [Tex.] : W.T. Taylor, 1977. P. 38-41). "[Stanley Baldwin] could always be depended on to smoke amiably and do nothing": p. iii of inscription. Sold by Shaw's order at Sotheby's, July 25, 1949; cf. Sotheby cat. 7-25-49, no. 130.
Physical Description
This copy issued in binding by Charles McLeish (signed C. McL.) of tan morocco, gilt, with monogram SS& enclosed in green morocco solander by Riviere and Son. Ms. note by G. Bernard Shaw laid in, erroneously ascribing binding to McClelland.
