Extent: Print inside a glass box : 13 x 9 1/4 x 1 1/4 inches. Re-measured 12 x 8 1/2 inches
Comprising an original early 18th-century hand-colored engraving spliced and decorated with fabric, glitter, foil, glaze and son on to form a three-dimensional relief against a textured black background. Probably reglazed and the boxframe renewed in the 19th or early 20th century, original backing preserved, comprising 18th-century block-printed floral paper with contemporary inscriptions of "Buisson" and "Le Sieur Fauque libraire". A very well-preserved piece, given the intricacy of the mounted parts: colors crisp and embroidered silk in good order. [Dealer's description]
