Biographical/historical: Carlotta Grisi, a leading ballerina of the Romantic period, is probably best remembered today as the first interpreter of the title role of Giselle in Jean Coralli and Jules Perrot's ballet of 1841.

Description
Collection of prints culled from various sources, depicting the nineteenth-century ballerina Carlotta Grisi. It includes a wood engraving that reverses and crops A.E. Chalon's three-quarter length portrayal of Grisi in costume for Act I of Giselle; two wood engravings from English illustrated periodicals, respectively depicting Grisi in the ballets La Esmeralda and Paquita; and an engraved three-quarter length portrait.
