DescriptionAn educational race game of the Jeu d L'Oiel (game of goose) type. Intended to be played with a pair of dice and tokens (not included). The game track follows the events of the 1926 voyage of the dirigible "Norge" over the North Pole. The 72-space game track is shown as series of 58 numbered circular spaces (with geographic captions) that are colored to reflect the flag of each country the dirigible passed over (Italy, England, France, Denmark, Norway and Sweden, the Russian Republic, the North Pole, and Alaska) and several larger numbered spaces: 4 rectangular vignettes in the four corners showing scenes from the dirigible's voyage and 10 larger circles that contain small outline maps, with relevant place names, that show a black line for the path of the "Norge" across each of the maps. The game track meanders on the sheet and has no relationship to geography. The favorable spaces in the game depict the head of the dog, Titina, the mascot that accompanied the designer and pilot of the dirigible "Norge," Umberto Nobile. The central background of the game depicts a bird's eye view of the polar ice cap with the flags of Italy, Norway, and the United States descending from the "Norge" toward the surface of the North Pole.
