Notes
Content: "This sketch is from a map in Van der Donck's description of New Netherland, drawn on the spot by Augustyn Heermans, who came to New Amsterdam in 1633. On the left is seen the Fort, inclosing the double-roofed church built by Kleft, the prison, Governor's house, high flag-staff. and wind-mill. At the river side are seen the gallows and whipping-post; and all around the Fort are clustered many dwelling-houses. On the extreme right is seen the hill over which Fulton Street now passes."--printed beneath bottom picture.
