Description
"This ingenious author [John Talbot Dillon] says, that in the menagerie of the agreeable gardens of Retivo [Retiro, Madrid] there is, amongst other curiosities, a Crested Falcon from the Curacas. This curious bird, which is about the size of a turkey, raises his feathers on his head in the form of a crest, and has a hooked bill; the lower mandible rather straight; his back, wings, and throat, are black, the belly white, the tail distinguished by four cinereous, and parallel stripes, and is an undescript bird, not taken notice of by Linneus, & c."--from source text.
