Content: Printed on border: "The foundations of the monument are supported on temporary steel girders and wooden posts while undermined for subway excavation under the monument and over sloping rock surface. The concrete floor of subway is shown finished and ready to receive the streel columns which will support its roof and the overhanging monument. The steel buckets containing excavated rock are hoisted by steam-derricks and dumped into wagons."
