Content: Former owner has penciled in instructions on page containing the chorus.
Content: Cover design includes drawing of a group of 5 white children playing, accompanied with a dog; in the middle ground is a wooden fence surrounding a house; at the gate of the fence is an African American child with a pointed hat and dog, with an expressing of surprise; the two dogs look longingly at one another; in the background is a house with an African American woman looking after her child.
Content: On cover: Sung with great success by Louise Dresser. Cover includes thumbnail photograph of Louise Dresser.
Content: Subtitle on cover: Pathetic ballad & refrain.
Content: Summary: Using stereotyped language, an African American child cries as he sees white children playing in front of his house, knowing that he can't play with them; his mother tries to console him by reminding him not to mind; eventually the African American child dies, while the mother must still console herself with her words to her child.
