Content: "Bombayo, the man from India, in the most astounding midair somersaulting exploits ever witnessed"--Bottom of poster.
Biographical/historical: The Carl Hagenbeck Circus, owned by John H. Havlin and Frank R. Tate, and the Great Wallace Circus, owned by Benjamin Wallace, John O. Talbott, and Jeremiah "Jerry" Mugivan, were combined as the Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus in 1907. It traveled, primarily in the midwestern United States, by rail, on 45 cars. Wallace operated the circus until 1913 when it was sold to Edward Ballard. Mugivan and Bert Bowers later took over the circus and ran it from 1919-1929. It afterwards became a Ringling Bros. subsidiary and last toured in 1938.

Poster advertisement for the Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus, featuring the aerialist Bombayo. Depicts an aerialist, presumably Bombayo, in mid-somersault, and a row of circus animals and performers, including four elephants with female dancers and male riders atop them, and light- and dark-skinned performers dressed in north African or Indian clothing.
