Content: 21580 A XIII 64 3826 Photo by courtesy U.S. Forest Service [on reverse of photo] One of the meanest jobs in the world is fighting forest fire, but when a fire is discovered in the national forests it is fought by forest officers until extinguished. Fire lines cleared of brush and debris are usually used to check the spread of fires running along the ground. Scene on a national forest in Utah. [on separate typewritten page] When a fire is discovered, in addition to the regular forest patrolmen, the fire warden may call for every piece of fire fighting equipment and command the service of every able bodied man in the neighborhood. In preserving the trees citizens preserve both themselves and their homes.
