Description
"The whole of this fine collection of organ music is in the hand writing of Sam Wesley, who kindly presented me with the mss. for my organ loft at the Portuguese Chapel, where I have frequently played most of the pieces with him as duetts. He was a great admirer of the fine organ there, which was one of the most exquisitely rich, beautiful and mellow-toned instruments that I have ever heard. For several years, Sam Wesley came almost every Sunday to hear the service, which generally consisted of one of Haydn or Mozart's masses, and afterward he was particularly fond of playing one of the glorious fugues of Sebastian Bach with me, which we adapted extemporaneously for four hands, as a last voluntary -- Vincent Novello, April 1844" -- note on cover.
