Content: Incomplete manuscript attributed to Hawley, providing legal commentary on the subject. References to opinions held by John Adams probably date this to 1773. In that year Adams’ responded in print to Major General William Brattle’s arguments supporting the payment of Superior Court judges’ salaries by the Crown.
