Biographical/historical: The Italian artist Stefano della Bella was a prolific producer of drawings and prints. His subject matter included contemporary operas, theatre works, and festivals. Alfonso Parigi belonged to an Italian family of stage designers and architects. Della Bella also made etchings of Parigi's designs for the opera Le nozze degli dei (1637) and an equestrian ballet (1652).

Representation of the interior of the church of San Lorenzo in Florence, with Francesco de' Medici's tomb at center near the high altar, and funerary decorations, including skeletons, at the sides of the nave. The Medici coat of arms hangs at top.
