Extent: 1 print : wood engraving?, black and white ; 27 x 38 cm.
Description
Depiction of a dancing lesson given to seven girls of varying ages. The garments of the teacher, accompanist, and students indicate affluence, and the girls' decorous stances suggest that they are learning ladylike behavior along with the dance. The setting appears to be a private home, furnished with fashionable accessories such as the two Japanese fans mounted on a screen at left.
